Maui is known as The Valley Isle. It is the second largest Hawaiian island. Haleakala National Park encompasses the island’s highest peak - volcanic Haleakala. According legend, Hawai?iloa named the island after his son who was named for the demigod Maui. Volcano Haleakala rises to more than 10,000 feet above sea level and measures five miles from sea floor to summit. Maui is a leading humpback whale watching center.

Gothenburg was founded in 1621 by King Gustav II Adolf. Gothenburg has about 260 trams. Jimi Hendrix was a fan of Gothenburg’s Liseberg amusement park and returned many times. We explored Gothenburg canals by boat you can easily enjoy the city on foot, tram or bike.

Luray Caverns are the largest caverns in the eastern United States. We strolled lighted, paved walkways through 10-story high cathedral-sized rooms, towering stone formations, and natural wonders. Luray Caverns is open every day of the year. All formations in the caverns are calcite, a crystalline form of limestone.The National Park Service and the Department of Interior designated it a Registered Natural Landmark.

Fort Christmas is located in Christmas, Florida. The original fort was begun in 1837 after white settlers tried to take back land Native Americans had been granted in a treaty. The fort houses an exhibit about the Seminole Indian War.The twenty-five acre park is has no admission charge.

Marineland opened in 1938 as Marine Studios and was designed for Hollywood film-makers to shoot underwater footage for motion pictures. Marineland Dolphin Adventure was founded to foster the preservation and protection of marine life.

Corfu Greece is one of the most beautiful of the Ionian islands. Corfu Town was influenced by the Venetians, French and the English. The narrow cobblestone alleys are called kandounia. The beaches in sandy coves, surrounded by green forests and mountains are some of the most beautiful in Greece.

Rouen is a port city on the river Seine. We visited the cobblestoned pedestrian center with medieval half-timbered houses. Joan of Arc was burned to death here for leading the French against the English. Victor Hugo famously described Rouen as the city of a hundred spires. The Gros Horloge clock is located on an arch between two buildings. Notre Dame of Rouen Cathedral was begun in the 1100s. Its spire reaches 495 feet. During the 1890s, the Claude Monet painted a series of 30 paintings of the cathedral.

Venice is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Venice has no roads! Canals are lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica. During our visit, the city flooded! Workers erected temporary walkways for tourists. Athens is one of the world’s oldest cities with a recorded history of 3.400 years. The Acropolis was built during 5th century BC. The Acropolis is a cultural UNESCO World Heritage site. The Valley of Fire is a State Park in Nevada. It has 40,000 acres of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops nestled in gray and tan limestone. Valley of Fire State Park contains ancient, petrified trees and petroglyphs dating back more than 2,000 years. The Visitor Center provides exhibits on the geology, ecology, prehistory and history of the park and the nearby region.
