BEATO GOES TO GREENLAND review by Frank Ioele
BEATO GOES TO GREENLAND by Sucheta Rawal with illustrations by Alexander Abagiu & Oana Cocheci
This is a very engaging story of cat named Beato who goes on quite an adventure to the faraway country of Greenland. Of course he’s a talking cat who is awestruck by what he finds in
this strange and beautiful country. He meets a young girl named Ina who takes him exploring where he encounters exotic animals, the local people and their customs, the Aurora Lights, igloos and lots and lots of ice, snow and cold! He even takes a helicopter ride.
This is a perfect book for children in elementary or possibly middle school who are studying other countries. Different aspects of Greenland are explored in a fanciful way leaving the reader to want to explore more about Greenland. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous with a palette of brilliant colors. I learned a lot about Greenland that I had forgotten or never knew. All indigenous words are given their phonetic spellings next to their proper spellings so that there is no problem with these new words.
BEATO GOES TO GREENLAND is published by Mascot Books and retails for $14.95.
