By Steven Skelley & Thomas Routong
What if there was an award-winning, family-owned resort on one of Florida's most beautiful beaches that didn't cost you an arm and a leg? Even better, what if there were three? Look no further! The Plaza Beach Resorts in beautiful St. Pete Beach, Florida is just what you are looking for.
Plaza Beach Resorts in St. Pete Beach are a collection of three boutique resorts within 100 yards of each other:
Each resort has a unique location and assets but all have the same high level quality ownership, management, service and amenities.
General Manager Robert Czyszczon told us that quality is the goal at Plaza Beach Resorts.
"We want to offer the same quality amenities as the big chain resorts but at a more intimate and family-friendly venue," Czyszczon said.
Plaza Beach Resorts are not only family-friendly but guests leave here feeling like a part of the family.
"We see a lot of families. We have a big repeat guest base. We have guests that have been coming every year for forty years. Our guests even rebook for the next year before they even leave. Our guests tell us that we have a very quiet, relaxed, family atmosphere at all three properties. Our guests sit outside talk to each other, grill their dinners and just enjoy their evenings," Guest Relations Manager LuAnne Turchetti told us.
"This is a family-owned property. They treat all the employees like family. The owners are here every day sometimes even helping out folding towels or cleaning. Everyone pitches in here. I like it so much here that my husband and I come here on my days off. We fish off the dock. It's very relaxing," Turchetti said.
Relaxing is not all there is to do at Plaza Beach Resorts. The resorts offer an impressive array of activities and amenities:
"A lot of people ask what there is to do when staying at our resorts. You can go parasailing and see dolphins and sting rays swimming beneath you. You can enjoy a sunset sail from Dolphin Landings just across the street. You can go paddle boarding and kayaking. You can even fish on our properties right from our dock. We rent fishing poles. If you are on our property, you don't need to buy a fishing license. Guests fish with their children and have a great family experience and memory to cherish," Turchetti said.
The Plaza Beach Hotel - Beachfront Resort is the beachfront property and is only 100 yards away from the Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort and Bay Palms Waterfront Resort. This charming and updated resort offers thirty-nine rooms. Many offer kitchenettes which are a great asset for long term stays and budget-minded diners.
The Plaza Beach Hotel has a beachside Tiki Hut bar that opened about a year ago to create a special place for adults. Also for adults, there is a Social Hour every afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with free beer and wine. It is understandably very popular with guests.
Bayview Plaza Waterfront and Bay Palms Waterfront resorts are just across the street located on the bay next to each other. Their courtyards open up to each other. Guests love to sit on the resort docks and watch the dolphins and manatees swimming just feet away.
"We have dolphins and manatees that swim right up to our docks. Our guests all run to see them. For some, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience," Turchetti said.
Bayview Plaza Waterfront has boat docking available, so whether you bring you boat, jet-ski or sail boat they can accommodate you for a small docking fee of $25.00 per boat slip. Some guests bring their canoes and kayaks.
Bay Palms is also a pet friendly property.
If you do want to venture off property for dining or sightseeing, you'll find that St. Pete Beach is one of the most walkable vacation areas in the Sunshine State. There are more than 80 restaurants!
"People often ask if they need a car here. Our area is very walkable. You can get just about anything you need within walking distance. If you want to explore farther, you can always hop on the trolley. You can get an unlimited day pass for only $4.50," Turchetti told us.
It does not matter which of the three quality resort you choose for your stay because guests have full access to use all the amenities at all the resorts. When they say, "Stay at one, play at all three," they mean it!
One of the best measures of a resort's quality is its ratio of return guests.
"Our new first-time guests have told us that they want to come back and make their stay here a family tradition because it has brough back memories of great childhood vacations they had themselves," Turchetti told us.
