New Smyrna Beach, Florida has it all: beautiful beaches, a thriving historic district and a funky arts district that includes quite possibly the best Vietnamese food we have enjoyed anywhere. After a delicious dinner, we spoke with KimChau Ngo, the owner of AA Garden Fusion restaurant.
How did you come up with the idea to create AA Garden Fusion in NewSmyrna beach?
Our family opened AA Nails and Spa several years ago after moving to New Smyrna Beach. We treated our customers to complimentary homemade Vietnamese cuisine and the response was so positive we decided to open a restaurant.
What is special about New Smyrna Beach and its people?
New Smyrna Beach is a quaint, relaxing, friendly and culturally rich community. Its people are incredibly kind, loving and supportive of small business owners and are so open to new ideas and experiences. Many of our guests, we know by names, are now our loyal friends and they are an integral part of our family restaurant.
Describe the food of AA Garden Fusion.
Excitingly fresh and uniquely delicious featuring a rich assortment of Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Japanese salads, appetizers, Pho, rice, pastas, noodles, Poke bowls, seafood, and vegetarian specials.
Our menu consists of essential spices, fresh vegetable and herbs that are key in Vietnamese food, making it one of the healthiest cuisines in the world.
How has Vietnamese heritage influenced your menu?
We love all kinds of food but Vietnamese cuisine has a special place in our heart because we grew up eating this food. Many parts of the world are intrigued and in love with Vietnamese cuisine because of its complexity of spices, freshness, and natural ingredients. We want to offer everyone a chance to enjoy not only our traditional, made from scratch Vietnamese dishes, but also familiar dishes with an exotic twist that appealed to a wider audience. From our handmade Spring Rolls and traditional Vietnamese Pho made entirely from scratch using an age old family recipe, to delectable Poke Tacos topped with guacamole and cusabi sauce, AA Garden Fusion offers something exciting for every palette.
Our Thoughts:
Four of us were seated on the AA Garden Fusion back patio near the fire and water displays. We enjoyed the relaxed, open-air seating.
Our meal choices included their most popular dish – the Stir Fry Combination Plate as well as Chicken Fried Rice, Asian Shrimp Alfredo, Betel Beef Wrap and Shrimp Wanton Rolls.
The portions were very large. Every one of us took home enough leftovers for a healthy lunch the next day.
The entrees and sides were appealing to both our eyes and our palates. KimChau Ngo and her staff have created delicious Vietnamese fusion recipes in a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere just a short stroll from the beautiful beach.
